Paint Happy workshop

Gisteren was dan de eerste knutselsessie van de Paint Happy workshop. Samen met zus die ook (weer) eens creatief aan de slag wil. In mijn grote en prachtig mooie atelier alles klaargezet en zo gingen we van start. Zus had (en heeft?) er nog niet veel vertrouwen in, maar we gingen van start met eerst maar eens het maken van wat kleurstaaltjes.

Yesterday was the first session of the Paint Happy workshop. Together with my sister who wanted to do something creative (again). In my big and wonderful artstudio we got to work. My sister was (and is?) not very confident about the whole thing, but we started with making some colorsamples first.

De volgende les was 'Get your doodle on'. Gewoon afwisselend met verf, aquarelverf en potlood  figuurtjes tekenen, schilderen, afdekken, aanvullen. Een les in loslaten, niet teveel bezig zijn met het eindresultaat, onbezorgd schilderen. Oftewel, Paint Happy! Dit was voor zus al een stukje moeilijker, en de twijfel was op haar gezicht te lezen...... 

The next lesson was 'Get your doodle on'. Doodling with paint, watercolorcrayons and pencil, drawing, painting, covering up, adding marks. A lesson in letting go, without worrying about the endresult, in other words, Paint Happy! My sister had a hard time, and doubt was showing on her face ....

Maar kijk eens naar haar eerste pagina, zus, kijk nou eens goed! Schitterende kleuren, heel veel verschillende vormen en ritmes, eigenlijk gewoon heel mooi.

But look at her first page, sis look closely at your work! Beautiful colors, a lot of different shapes and marks, it really looks so cool.

En dit is mijn eerste pagina, de foto is niet helemaal scherp, maar duidelijk genoeg. En zus, ik heb zelfs wat tekst toegevoegd, gewoon, over hoe leuk ik het vond en vind om dit samen met jou te doen ;-)

Digital Canvas workshop

Het is alweer even geleden, maar ik wil toch nog even schrijven over de Digital Canvas workshop die ik volgde bij Traci Bautista. Ik was zeker geen beginner, maar ik heb in deze workshop toch een paar superhandige trucjes geleerd. En ben je wel een beginner, en wil je creatief aan de slag met je iPad, dan kan ik je deze workshop aanbevelen. Hou rekening met extra kosten voor verschillende Apps die je aan moet schaffen ;-)

                              

It has been a while since I completed this Digital Canvas workshop with Traci Bautista, but I want to write about it. Now I wasn't a beginner, but I still learned a number of very cool tricks. And if you are a beginner, and want to get creative with your iPad, I can really recommand this workshop. Keep in mind you will need a few extra dollars to buy a few Apps you need ;-)

                            

                              

Octopode challenge

Ik heb al heel wat afgeknutseld met deze leuke afbeeldingen, verjaardagskaarten, labels, fotopagina's, het blijft gewoon heel leuk om te doen. Hieronder een selectie ;-)

I've made quite a few things with these cute images, birthdaycards, tags, scrapbookpages, they are so much fun and usuable for a lot of different things. Here's a selection ;-)

Gisteren viel er een pakje op de mat. En toen ik besefte wat het was, nog vóór ik het uitgepakt had, voelde ik me een kind op Sinterklaasavond. Die spanning, ik heb geloof ik nog nooit een pakje zo snel opengemaakt ;-) Wat zat er in dan, zul je zeggen? Het boek van Julie Prichard en Chris Cozen, Acrylic Solutions. Een gesigneerd exemplaar, dat ook nog, hoe gaaf is dat dan?

Yesterday the mailman delivered a package. And the minute I realised what was in the package, even before I opened it, I felt like a little girl on Christmas Eve. The excitement, I think I never opened a package quicker ;-) Want to know what it was? The book written by Julie Prichard and Chris Cozen, Acrylic Solutions. A signed copy, now how cool is that?

Ik heb Julie en Chris leren 'kennen' toen ik bij hen de eerste online workshop deed, ik meen dat het Texture Town was. Ik had al wat online workshops gedaan, maar deze was anders. Ik heb van deze twee dames zo veel geleerd over acrylverf! De video's waren duidelijk, ze waren er altijd voor hulp, nooit hoefde ik lang op antwoord te wachten. En het beste, ik heb nu, een hele tijd later, nog steeds toegang tot het lesmateriaal. Dat alles voor een zeer redelijke prijs, dus na die eerste heb ik er nog veel gedaan!

I 'met' Julie and Chris when I took my first online workshop with them, I think it was Texture Town. I had done a few online workshops, but this one was different. These ladies taught me so much about acrylic paint! The videos were very clear, they explain everything wonderful, they were always there for help, I never had to wait long for an answer, and the best, even now, after all the time, I still have access to the classes. And, these classes are very affordable, so a lot more workshops followed!

Julie heeft net een nieuwe workshop gelanceerd, 8 verschillende schilderijen schilderen. Als je veel wilt leren over acrylverf, trakteer jezelf op dit geweldige boek en volg een workshop. De technieken die je leert helpen je zeker verder, dat beloof ik ;-)

Julie just launched a new workshop, how to paint 8 different paintings. If you want to know acrylic paint, treat yourself with the book, and consider taking a workshop, your paintingskills will improve rapidly, I promise ;-)

Maar met alleen het boek kom je ook al een heel eind, heel veel uitleg, heel veel foto's, en heel veel inspirerende kunst!

But the book will get you going too, lots of explanation, lots of photos and a lot of inspiring art!

En het beste heb ik natuurlijk voor het laatst bewaard, want waar slaat de titel van dit blogje nou op? Nou, helemaal achterin, ja, het is echt waar, staat een schilderij van mijn hand!! En hoewel het voor de inhoud van het boek helemaal niet nodig is, is hij toch geplaatst en dat vind ik zo gaaf. En ik vind het super lief dat deze twee dames dit gedaan hebben! Julie, ik ben er weer bij hoor, ik heb wel zin om 8 schilderijen te maken ;-)

Now I saved the best part, bet you're all wondering what the title of this post is about. Well, all the way back in the book, there's an image of my painting! Yes, my painting! Reading the book I realised these ladies didn't need to publish this image, but they did and that is the sweetest thing ever! Thank you both so much, I am super proud and honoured to be in your great book! Julie, count me in for the new workshop, I am ready to paint 8 paintings ;-)

Hearts, Stripes en Hollywood

Ze zijn zo leuk, de digitale stempels van Octopode Factory. Voor traditioneel knutselwerk, maar natuurlijk ook op de computer, of, zoals ik ze gebruik, op de iPad ;-)

So much fun, the digital stamps by Octopode Factory. For traditional art and mixed media, but of course for use on the computer too, or, like I use them, on the iPad ;-)
